December 2010 - Activity Update:

During the year we have seen significant developments on the former Feltex site. At the start of the year Foodstuffs gained resource consent approval for their New World supermarket which is soon to become our new neighbour. Construction of the supermarket has started on site and is due to be completed in the second half of 2011.

This is great news for the community and our proposed new village. We are very pleased to have secured such a compatible facility on our door step. What an improvement and a transformation this is from a derelict factory just a few years ago.

Since Vision Senior Living secured its resource consent for a retirement village on the site there have been a number of external factors which have effected the construction timing.  Not least the down turn in the economy, the flat local residential market, and now the recent impact of the Christchurch earthquake. The company remains committed to the site; to Christchurch; and to developing Vision Ilam Park.

We firmly believe it has all the ingredients to be the best retirement village in Christchurch. The decision as to when we start construction is constantly being reviewed. Our aim is to ensure the most successful outcome for the village and the future residents, we pledge to keep you informed as and when firm decisions are made.

In the meantime we are extremely pleased with the huge amount of enquiry, questions and support we receive particularly from local residents.
